Why I Photograph this way

My approach & philosophy

Meet Melanie

This is Where my work begins

Some women move through life feeling deeply connected to their relationships, to their animals, to the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.

They are not looking to become someone else.

They are searching for recognition — for images that reflect how it felt to be inside their life.

I’m Melanie, an artist drawn to the emotional spaces between people — the subtle gestures, the bonds that shape us, the moments that exist just beneath the surface.

My work is guided by curiosity, emotional depth, relationship and art — capturing not just how something looked, but how it felt to belong inside it.

Rather than directing perfection, I create space for presence. When someone feels safe enough to simply exist, something honest emerges — and that is where belonging lives.

I believe photographs can feel like recognition.

Beyond the lens

I live in Central Oregon, drawn to quiet spaces, changing light, and the rhythm of a slower life.

I’m endlessly fascinated by relationships — how we attach, how we protect ourselves, and how we learn to feel safe being seen.

Much of my inspiration comes from the bonds between women and the worlds they build — their partners, their families, their animals, and the rituals that make life feel meaningful.
